Ongoing Terrorist Threat in Uganda

This Emergency Message is to alert all U.S. citizens residing and traveling in Uganda of the  continuing threat of terrorism in Uganda.  Terrorists have historically sought to stage attacks around high-profile events and significant dates.  In light of the upcoming EURO 2012 final match on July 1, the two-year anniversary of the 7/11 bombings in Kampala, and U.S. Independence Day on July 4, U.S. citizens are reminded to practice good personal security habits and to avoid crowded public gatherings which may be attractive targets to terror groups.  

The U.S. Embassy in Kampala encourages U.S. citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for the most up-to-date security information.  Keep all of your information in STEP up-to-date by maintaining your current phone numbers and email addresses where you can be reached in case of an emergency.
